Traditionally biomimetics has started with the biological system and identified functionality that could be used to solve engineering problems. Increasingly, with their appetite whetted, engineers, designers and innovators are presenting problems that need solving. Phil Richardson has developed an innovation process that helps by using biomimetics to develop process, behaviour and change management. This new approach can be used to answer a specific functional requirement and the design of a business.
